New HERO App Alerts Those Nearby in Event of Emergency

There’s a new app that’s available for iOS and Android that might just save your life. It’s called HERO and it uses geo-locational technology to track your whereabouts in the event of an emergency.

Once the app is installed on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, you’ll have the capability of using it to alert those around you when you feel threatened, when you have car problems or even if you’re having chest pains. The app is backed by Elizabeth Smart who was abducted in her childhood and was recently re-located.

As stated previously on this blog, mobile marketing is all about location, location, location. The HERO app is a great example of the innovative use of geo-locational technology, only in this case, it’s being used to save lives rather than sell products.

I was interviewed on HLN about the app this week and provided some additional tips on how it can be used to save lives. If you’d like to watch the segment, check it out on our YouTube channel, or simply click the play button on the video below.
