Do you use Elevator Statements in your business? Probably so. If that’s the case, I have a simple technique you can use to make sure your Elevator Statement delivers the punch you’re looking for the next time someone asks you “What do you do?”

I’m at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and have had the opportunity to talk to some of the salespeople at the trade show booths.

Most of the people have been spot on — they’re professional, articulate and friendly. But a handful of them were caught off-guard when I asked them “What do you do?” To my surprise and amazement, they looked like a deer in headlights and stumbled through a poorly thought-out explanation of what business they were in.

In the short video below (recorded at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona) I talk about the power of using metaphors as a way to improve the impact of an Elevator Statement. It’s a great technique that is under-leveraged by most businesspeople.

If you’re trying to make sure your Elevator Statement is as good as you hope it is, check out the video below and see how using a metaphor can help you be an Elevator Statement Rock Star.
