Snapchat has been a long time purveyor of video with its Snapchat Stories feature an extremely attractive option to its users. The app has 150 million daily users and is very popular with millennials. Instagram decided to get in on the act and launched its own Instagram Stories feature which is also video based and extremely similar to the Snapchat version. In fact, to many people, it is a carbon copy.

However, there is a major difference between the two. Snapchat’s filters are extensive and highly customizable. This means users have a lot more options but is equally attractive to brands who want ultra-customization for brand awareness and user engagement.

Instagram by comparison has much less customizable options available in its version, however its big advantage is in its scale with its significantly larger user base at 300 million visitors per day, compared to the 150 million daily users of Snapchat.
