Did you know that 29% of all Tweets are read, 12% of all Facebook posts are read and 20% of all emails are opened, but that 98% of all text messages are read?
That’s just one of the fascinating facts I learned in a new infographic from our friends at SlickText.com. For more information on the power of SMS marketing, check out the infographic below.

That statistic will hold true as long as most companies have no involvement with SMS marketing.
People also used to love getting email -- "You've Got Mail!" became a popular concept in our culture. People were excited to get emails.
Look what happened to open rates the past 15 years.
Great thoughts, Jonathan. Glad you stopped by. See you again next time!
Where do you get "Prefer" from? The source says: "Nearly 70% of smart phone users say that mobile coupons are useful".
Why would any one "prefer" to be marketed to through a means with no control (ie: filters/rules/spam blocking)?
My idea of "useful" means I ask for a coupon, they text it to me, I use it. I don't want random ads/coupons/offers/etc just being blindly texted to me.
HI, Jaymoon --
Thanks for your questions.
The 75% figure is referencing the information about 3/4ths of the way down the infographic. Is your comment based on reading the original source? If so, can you send me the link so I can read it? We'll adjust our headline if there are any inaccuracies. Thanks.
Also, while I agree with your general premise -- that the average consumer is a little skeptical about SMS -- I will say that my experience has been that the carriers (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) have a vested interest in preventing SMS spam. The result is that SMS spam is much lower than, for example, email spam.
All that said, if you can send me a link to the original source about the "70% useful" research, I'll check it out. (I tried to read it off of the bottom of the infographic, but the resolution isn't good enough.)
Thanks for stopping by,
Jamie
