Holiday Inn and Samsung have launched a mobile app for their new Holiday Inn London Stratford City location situated next to the Olympic Park. People who check-in to the hotel and download the Android app will be provided a full suite of hotel services, remote control of room settings and a special Olympic Newsletter with the latest updates from the games.
The joint solution combines the GALAXY S III with a fully-customizable app to provide users a unique Olympic experience. The app enables people to take advantage of express check-out, order room service, laundry service and even use the GALAXY S III as an in-room phone extension.
Best of all, the app allows users to control the TV, lighting, AC and other in-room functions including serving as the room key.
Chris Hale, IHG Head of London 2012 is quoted as saying, “In offering the first truly connected hospitality experience for our Olympic Games guests, we are working with Samsung to enhance and personalize the hotel guest experience by using the latest GALAXY S III Smartphone. As the Games open, we’re excited to be part of what promises to be the most connected Olympic Games ever.”
The Bottom Line: If you’re like most businesses, you’re still trying to wrap your mind around how to use mobile to engage with customers and grow revenues. Don’t feel alone — the typical small- to mid-sized business doesn’t have large departments to take on these kind of initiatives. With that in mind, we have plenty of posts on the blog that can steer you in the right direction. Check out “How to Attract Local Customers Using Mobile” and “How to Generate a QR Code” on the blog.
